Abstract
Urbanized parts of Asia are today facing public health challenges which have for decades characterized Western Europe and North America. In Hong Kong, as in the other cities of China, mortality and morbidity patterns are now characterized by early onset of chronic disease. Happily, health promotion and education is in a period of ascendancy in China.
