Abstract
Acupuncture is a therapeutic intervention that involves the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points (Figure 1) and has been practised around the world for over 2000 years. The term comes from the Latin words ‘acus’ (needle) and ‘punctura’ (to puncture). It is commonly used to treat a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, including the management of nausea and vomiting.
