Abstract
A new method for finding the steady state response of structures is presented. It is an alternative to the Ritz and Lanczos vectors methods for a wide class of excitations and the exact steady state response can be obtained in a finite number of matrix operations. The Duhamel integral and natural modes are completely eliminated. A simple subroutine is written for all possible combinations of polynomial, exponential and sinusoidal excitations. Piecewise continuous excitations are also studied. Heavy damping can be analyzed without modifications. The method is very suitable for microcomputers.
